TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Chiles High School teacher has been arrested, accused of using a computer to send an obscene image of himself in an attempt to seduce a student.
Casey Michael O'Brien, 33, sent a Chiles student seductive pictures and tried to get the child to send him nude pictures of the child, a Leon County Sheriff's Office investigator wrote in a probable cause affidavit.
On Aug. 20, 2018, Chiles High School received an anonymous alert saying O'Brien had sent nude Snapchat messages to at least two students, court documents said.
One student acknowledged receiving a Snapchat picture and video from O'Brien from last year on April 8, 2018, the court document said. The picture was of O'Brien's face, and a video that did not show a man's face showed the man's private parts.
Questioned by a school official in August, O'Brien admitted that he was the man in the video and had sent the student the video. The chemistry teacher was placed on administrative leave with pay until the investigation was complete.
The victim told the Leon County Sheriff's Office detective that many of O'Brien's students, including a friend of the victim, through whom the victim came in contact with O'Brien, follow O'Brien on Instagram.
In April 2018, O'Brien added the victim to his Snapchat page, and they began exchanging snaps. Shortly after they began talking via Snapchat, court documents said, O'Brien began sending the victim sexual messages.
O'Brien was called a pedophile by the victim at some point, and the victim blocked him on Snapchat, court documents said.
But the victim unblocked O'Brien after Obrien contacted the victim on Instagram and apologized for making the victim feel uncomfortable. Afterward, O'Brien just sent the victim pictures of his dog and television.
In one of their conversations, the victim said, the victim told O'Brien the victim was a minor, and O'Brien responded, "Oh I thought you were a senior," but O'Brien knew the victim was under 18 years old.
O'Brien was booked into the Leon County Detention Center on Saturday on a charge of using a computer to solicit a child for sexual conduct and was freed on a $7,500 bond.
