ORLANDO, Fla. - Seven children are being treated for what authorities describe as minor injuries following a school bus crash near Orlando.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the bus was carrying about 50 students to Lake Gem Elementary School when it collided head on with a Nissan Altima Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Kim Montes says the bus driver told troopers cars were parked on both sides of the road. As she drove in the center of the road, she saw the car coming at her. The other driver told troopers there was a glare from the sun.
Orange County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Kat Kennedy tells the Orlando Sentinel 16 students were evaluated at the scene. Seven were taken to a hospital.
She says the injuries don't appear to be serious.
