3 children, 3 adults injured after head-on crash in Jackson County

ALFORD, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say three young children and three adults have been hospitalized, some with serious injuries, after a head-on crash in Jackson County.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Sunday around 3 p.m. in Alford. 

Troopers say a 2005 Toyota Prius was driving north on U.S. 231 while slowing down to make a left turn onto Lakepoint Road. At the same time, a second vehicle, a 2016 Dodge Caravan, was traveling the opposite on U.S. 231 in the outside lane.

The driver of the Prius failed to yield for oncoming traffic and started the left turn, crossing into Caravan's path and causing the cars to crash head-on.

Two passengers from the Prius, Bertha Johnson, 62, of Chipley and an 11-year-old boy from Chipley were seriously injured and transported to Bay Medical Center.

The driver of the Prius, Charles Sensac, 60, of Fountain was uninjured.

One passenger in the Caravan, 52-year-old Lisa Walker of Greenville, Kentucky, was hospitalized for serious injuries.The driver, 56-year-old Phillip Walker of Greenville, a 5-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy were admitted with minor injuries. 

Troopers have not indicated that charges have been filed in the crash and they do not believe the crash to be alcohol related.
