TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- A child on a bicycle is seriously hurt after being hit by a car, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the area of Fred George Road and Woodbriar Lane around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a motorist striking a pedestrian on a bicycle.
When they got there, they found the cyclist was a child who was injured.
The intersection was blocked off as deputies investigated.
"Once we have a crash like that with bodily injury, it is typical to close that road down to assess the damage to all involved -- and the injuries involved -- and to gather as much information about the crash -- evidence about the crash -- as possible," said Lieutenant Grady Jordan.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies. At this time, no charges have been filed.
The child was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The sheriff's office is not releasing any more information about the child.
The area was reopened up before 6 p.m. Wednesday.
