TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Chief Justice Jorge Labarga, who took his oath of office on June 30th, signed an administrative order today creating the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice today.
This is the major initiative of his two-year administration. The commission will focus on how to meet the civil legal needs of disadvantaged, low-income, and moderate income Floridians.
30 other states have established similar commissions.
As a part of the effort, 27 people will be appointed to the commission from the private sector, the legal community, and other branches of the state government.
