TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- At the Leroy Collins Leon County Library, you can check out a variety of things. Of course you'd expect books and DVDs and more. However, right up there with "The Hunger Games," "The Hobbit" and "Edgar Allan Poe," you might be surprised at what else is on the shelves.

"Leon county held its Sustainability Summit on January 24th, and on that date we launched the seed library", said Cay Hohmeister, director of the library. "It's a way to encourage people who have not done so before, to try growing vegetables from seed."

From eggplant to tomato to okra clemson seeds, you can get them all along with the latest J.K. Rowling book.

"People were very enthusiastic, we were a little overwhelmed with the response", said Hohmeister.

So if you're book savvy, or have a green thumb, it's easy to start your own vegetable garden. You can get a little help from your local library.
