MACON, Ga. (AP) — A man and a woman are facing charges after authorities say they discovered 21 dogs living in deplorable conditions at an east Macon home.
Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare Director Sonja Adams tells the Macon Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1SicTT3 ) that animal welfare officers discovered the pit bull mixes Tuesday. Thirty-seven-year-old suspects Kimberly Alderman and Eric Hollingshed have each been charged with eight counts of animal cruelty and one count of obstruction.
Adams says nine of the dogs were tethered or shut in a bare, feces-caked concrete kennel outside, while numerous puppies were found hidden in a closet.
Though only eight of the 21 dogs met legal definitions of animal cruelty, Adams says all of the dogs were taken by Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare.
It is unclear whether the suspects have attorneys.
