Charge Dropped Against Man Once Wrongfully Convicted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A man who spent 24 years in prison for crimes he didn't commit says he is also innocent in an attempted murder case that prosecutors dropped after the alleged victim was murdered.

Alan Crotzer held a press conference Monday to release evidence in the attempted murder case that he and his lawyer say shows he is innocent.

The 54-year-old was arrested in 2012 and charged with shooting Antoine Davis. With Davis now dead, charges against Crotzer were dropped. Crotzer isn't a suspect in the killing.

Crotzer said he's disappointed the case didn't go to trial so a jury could exonerate him. He fears people will assume he committed the crime.

Crotzer was released from prison in 2006 after DNA evidence proved he didn't commit two rapes he was convicted of.
