TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (By The News Service of Florida) - The Florida Lottery has added two new daily draw games, Pick 2 and Pick 5, for people to play.

The new games start at 50 cents per ticket, with drawings twice daily.

The new options bring the total number of draw games offered by the lottery to nine.

In addition to Pick 2 and Pick 5, the lotto has also re-named two other longtime draw games. Cash 3 and Play 4, also twice daily draw games, are now known as Pick 3 and Pick 4, with all other rules remaining the same.

Florida Lottery Secretary Tom Delacenserie says with Pick 2 and Pick 5, it is important to add new games to the mix. He says the rebrand of Pick 3 and Pick 4 were done to streamline the product line.

“Most lotteries call their daily games ‘pick’ games. We were kind of the odd ones there, with a ‘cash’ and a ‘play’. So, by rebranding them to the pick name, we become more mainstream. As our visitors come down from the North, it’s more recognizable for them.”

Delacenserie hopes the new games will increase overall sales for the lottery’s draw games, as more money per ticket is transferred to public education from draw games than from scratch off tickets.

Following a record year in sales last year, the Florida Lottery recorded more than 530 million dollars of total sales in July, the highest amount ever for the month. From that total, roughly 144 million was transferred to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
