VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) -- A Valdosta State University student accused of bringing a gun on to campus due back in court on Tuesday.
Eric Sheppard was arrested earlier this year, after being on the run for more than a month.
His attorney is asking for a change in venue for the trial.
According to authorities, video shows the 22-year old walking on an American flag during a protest at VSU.
After that, police connected Sheppard to a backpack with a gun inside that was found at the school library.
Sheppard's defense team has filed a motion to suppress any evidence found inside of the bag.
The case continues in front of a Lowndes County judge on Tuesday afternoon.
If convicted, Sheppard faces up to eight years behind bars, and the potential of a $10,000 fine.
