LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a chain-reaction traffic crash that happened in Liberty County as a result of a chase that started in Leon County.

It started Saturday night when Leon County deputies were chasing a driver who would not pull over on State Road 20. When the vehicle crossed into Liberty County, LCSO called off their deputies in pursuit but continued using their helicopter to track down the suspect's vehicle.

The deputy swerved to avoid a collision and ended up driving through a gas station parking lot, crashing into a parked truck, which made that truck crash into a gas pump. The gas pump came up from the pavement and tipped over onto a boat, being towed by an unoccupied SUV.

The Liberty County deputy was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and authorities are still looking for that first driver who caused the chase and subsequent crash. FHP believes the vehicle is a black Toyota pickup truck. If you have any information, you can contact FHP by dialing *347.
