CES 2017: Bionic floor cleaner 'sucks up' solids and liquids at the same time

LAS VEGAS — They say there's no use crying over spilled milk, but when the kids are throwing a tantrum and you're forced to get down on your hands and knees to mop up the mess flecked with cereal, spilled milk can seem like an appropriate reason to cry.

China-based company Hizero wants to change that.

Founded in 2013, Hizero specializes in innovative cleaning technology inspired by bionics. The company's first product, the Multifunctional Bionic Floor Cleaner (designed to look like a vacuum), can clean both solid and liquid from the floor at the same time, then separate the two waste products for disposal.

Hizero showcased Bionic Floor Cleaner this year at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in Las Vegas.

Ten years ago, one of the founders of Hizero noticed the absurd amount of time his wife spent cleaning their floor, first sweeping, then mopping and finally using a rag to dry, according to Hizero exhibitor Jin Wang.

Wang said he wanted to create something that would make the process easier. He found inspiration in the unlikeliest of places: his dog.

"Inspired by observing the dog licking its food in the plate, he found the dog used its tongue and a little saliva and it could clean both wet and dry food in the plate and its tongue was always clean," said Wang. "Then after digestion the food is separated into liquids and solids."

After 10 years of research and developing, the founder and a group of other designers and engineers created the bionic floor cleaner. The floor cleaner can sweep, mop, sweep and mop at the same time and self-clean by separating the liquids and solids so they're ready for disposal and cleaning itself with fresh water.

"It can deal with both wet and dry garbage. By dry garbage we don't only mean dust but also bigger ones, always all daily garbages can be cleaned easily, like spaghetti," Wang said. "It has the unique solid-liquid separation system, so it's easy to dispose of garbage. You don't need to worry about blocking the drain. It self-cleans all the time, so we are always using a clean mop to mop the floor, no need to worry about secondary pollution."

The Hizero Bionic Floor Cleaner can be purchased for $399 on GearBest.
