TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The latest news on the death of a Florida woman after being forcibly removed from a hospital by police.
The CEO of Calhoun Liberty Hospital says officials will cooperate with state authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a Florida woman who collapsed as police forcibly removed her from the hospital. Ruth Attaway made the announcement during a news conference Wednesday. Attaway refused to answer why hospital staff called Blountstown Police early Monday morning to remove 57-year-old Barbara Dawson.
Attaway said the only time hospital staff ask police to remove patients is when there is a concern about other patients' safety.
Dawson collapsed while being escorted in handcuffs to a police car. She was readmitted to the hospital, and later died.
