TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee's first CBD dispensary will be opening this weekend.
The Natural Life Wellness dispensary is set to celebrate it's grand opening at it's location at 2101-3 West Pensacola Street (next to Empire Cafe) on Saturday.
The dispensary will specialize in CBD, which is a cannabis compound that does not make people feel "high," according to California-based non-profit Project CBD.
Officials say that they are "spearheading" a new industry that will bring jobs and income to the city of Tallahassee.
"We believe in educating the public and providing the best relief from pain we can, in a safe, all natural alternative," said Alex Petrick who works with the dispensary.
They say CBD products are not only less expensive, but have a number of beneficial effects to include anti-cancer properties. They say it also could treat several issues to include anxiety, nausea, sleep disorders, arthritis and schizophrenia.
"Instead of having a prescription and to go through a long waiting period to access medical marijuana, patients can now buy CBD products over the counter," said Petrick.
