GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - New details are being revealed in the case of a Gadsden County teen found starved to death in October of last year.

The mother, stepfather and sister of Javontez Thomas have all been charged in his death.

A judge intends to hear all three cases together, but attorneys for each defendant say they need more time before a trial date can be set.

WTXL was in court as Michael Butler appeared before the judge. He's the stepfather of Javontez Yhomas, who weighed just 45 pounds when he was found dead in his hHavana home.

Butler's attorney wants a neuropsychiatrist to testify, because Butler claims the family of Javontez Thomas may suffer from early onset Alzheimer's or dementia which could've played a role in the death.

Javontez's mother, Sabrina Robinson, and sister Christina Harris were not in court Thursday. Robinson's attorney asked the judge a hearing in 90 days to give them more time to build their case.

The judge continued all three cases and objected to a request from Harris' attorney not to waive the right to a speedy trial.

All three cases will be heard in the afternoon of October 5th. The judge will hold a hearing in two weeks with Harris' attorney about the speedy trial waiver.
