CARRABELLE, FL (WTXL) - The City of Carrabelle is discussing moving City Hall at Thursday night's Commission Meeting.
According to City Clerk Keisha Messer, the current building is approximately 60,000 square feet but the city only uses close to 3,000. Messer explains the overhead cost of maintaining the building is around $50,000.
Because of the age and size of the building there is a large financial cost to fix and maintain it. This is why Messer says they will discuss the possibility of moving to a smaller space.
Messer says the City does own the current building but they do share it with several after-school programs. The City also rents some of the space to the Camp Gordon Johnston Museum.
