VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta Police Department responded to a theft at a business in the 700 block of East Park Avenue on Saturday, July 29 at approximately 1 p.m.
Officials say the victim reported their wallet being stolen out of their vehicle. The officers were allowed to watch the surveillance footage from the parking lot of the business.
The footage revealed an individual entering the victim's car without permission and stealing her wallet. While the officer was gathering the information for the report, the victim received notice that her credit card had been used at another business in the 900 block of Baytree Road.
As the officer responded to the new location, they were allowed to watch their surveillance video and were able to identify the suspect as 55 year old William Scott.
He was taken into custody and was transported to the Lowndes County Jail. Scott will now face charges for:
- Theft by Entering Auto (FELONY)
- Financial Transaction Card Fraud (Misdemeanor)
