TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A candlelight vigil for the Parkland school shooting victims is set in the Capital City.
The vigil starts at 7 p.m. at the Pavilion at the Centre of Tallahassee.
The vigil in Tallahassee is one of over 20 across the state happening Monday night in honor of the Parkland shooting victims.
The Florida PTA coordinated the state-wide vigils so every community in Florida can stand in solidarity. Forty students from Broward County schools are attending the vigil.
A recent graduate from Stoneman Douglas who went to school with the suspect is reading the names of the shooting victims. Florida PTA is encouraging all Floridians to stand together Monday night as one family.
"It's important to remember the 17 lives we lost that day. And it's important that we say never again," said Angie Gallo, who's a legislative chair for the Florida PTA. "No more, we're done. No more blood shed, no more heart ache, no more children lost. We've lost enough. Today, it's time to remember and it's time to grieve."
Senator Gary Farmer and pastor Scott Hunter with Genesis Church will also be speaking.
Tuesday, the Florida PTA is honoring the Stoneman Douglas students with action. They are fighting to change gun control laws as part of the 'Never Again' campaign.
