TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - For many, the Memorial Day weekend means camping or a trip to an RV park, and while some decided to leave before Alberto made landfall, some decided to stay and weather the storm.

Nearly every spot was filled at the Big Oak RV park despite the downpour of rain. Many campers got caught in the rain and had to run for cover leaving their food and chairs outside.

At the Coe Landing RV Park on Lake Talquin, many campers decided it was best to leave early before the rain came.

"We were pretty much booked up earlier before the storm forecast began to approach our area and then we had a few cancellations but as of yesterday we were already half full and then when the rain started showing up," said owner Rick Lucero. "That's when everyone packed up and tried to leave before it got worse."

Lucero says he expects campers to come back once the weather settles down.
