BLOUNSTOWN, Fla. (WTXL) - A task force was introduced Monday in Blountstown in the wake of Barbara Dawson's death. The woman died from a blood clot after she was arrested for disorderly conduct and collapsed in police custody.
At the press conference, hospital officials also announced that they would be launching their own internal review which would focus on standards of care, professional behavior, as well as courtesy and compassion towards patients. As of Monday, three hospital employees have been placed on administrative leave, as it relates to Ms. Dawson.
The role of the new task force will be to look for ways to improve communication policies within the hospital, as well as leadership and professional development. The 8 member task force was consists of both medical personnel and community members. The board was selected by both Calhoun Hospital CEO, Ruth Attaway and Reverand R.B. Holmes.
Over the next several months, the task force will take a closer look at internal procedures and prepare recommendations. Their first organized meeting will take place on January 28th.
