ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Earlier this year, Cary Brandon Smith, 33, of Cairo, pled guilty earlier this year to 31 counts of making and selling Meth, and other felony charges.
Thursday, Federal Judge W. Louis Sands sentenced Smith to 360 months, 30 years, in prison, said Charles E. Peeler, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia,
Smith is guilty of Conspiracy to Manufacture and Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Other Controlled Substances, Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Use of a Communications Facility in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Smith's troubles began in 2015, when Grady County deputies and Cairo Police officers were serving outstanding arrest warrants.
They went to Old Egg Road to arrest Smith, who had been on the run from law enforcement since about March, for Meth.
Smith ran away, but police found methamphetamine and components used in the manufacture of methamphetamine and several firearms were also recovered.
While awaiting trial on the charges from 2015, Smith continued dealing in methamphetamine and other illegal drugs, and possessing guns. He was arrested again in 2017, in Cairo, with handguns, methamphetamine, and other illegal drugs.
