BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - A Dixie man died when the vehicle he was driving left a road and overturned several times before catching fire.
Gerald Mathew Strickland, 44, died in the crash, which occurred about 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Georgia State Route 122 at the intersection of Georgia State Route 133, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Strickland's 2002 Buick Rendezvous was traveling east on Georgia State Route 122 when it crossed Georgia State Route 133 and struck a sign. Then the vehicle traveled into the ditch before striking a culvert.
The vehicle overturned several times and caught on fire, engulfing the vehicle.
Strickland was pronounced dead at the crash scene by Brooks County Coroner Joseph Leverett.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributd to the collision.
