4 Brooks County Jail Officers and Jail Administrator Arrested

QUITMAN, GA (WTXL) - Investigators have arrested four Brooks County Jail officers and a jail administrator regarding reports of inappropriate use of force against inmates.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said they were contacted by Brooks County Sheriff Mike Dewey on Sept. 14th to start a criminal investigation in to the Brooks County Jail following reports of inappropriate use of force against inmates.

When investigators interviewed jail staff, inmates, and other witnesses, they learned that other incidents happened from March until September of this year.

On Tuesday, GBI arrested four jail officers and a jail administrator. All of them are scheduled to make their first appearance in court on Tuesday as well.

The names of those arrested and their charges are below:

Jail Administrator Scott Boutwell, 49 -- 3 Counts of Cruelty to Inmates (Felony), 1 Count of Violation of Oath of Office (Felony), 1 Count of Simple Battery (Misdemeanor)

Jailer Courtney Giddens, 29, -- 2 Counts of Cruelty to Inmates (Felony)

Jailer Rina Griffin, 29, -- 1 Count of Cruelty to Inmates (Felony)

Jailer Dellisa Brown, 26, -- 1 Count of Cruelty to Inmates (Felony)

Jailer Jorqua Davis, 27, --  2 Counts of Cruelty to Inmates (Felony)
