LAS CRUCES, NM (RNN) - A middle-aged New Mexico science teacher has pleaded guilty to cooking crystal meth - and no, it's not who you think.
The similarity to TV show "Breaking Bad" is uncanny, but John W. Gose does not wear a pork-pie hat and sometimes call himself Heisenberg.
Gose, 56, was busted with meth-making equipment in his car during an Oct. 2, 2016 traffic stop in Las Cruces, NM. Police spotted a white, styrofoam cooler that contained chemicals, glassware and rubber tubes. Authorities later raided his house and fond more chemicals and supplies consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine.
The investigators said he had enough chemicals and equipment to make one pound of meth, worth about $44,800.
The Dona Ana County District Attorney issued a statement saying Gose had taught science at schools in El Paso, TX, and later taught at two schools in Las Cruces.
Mark D'Antonio, the DA, praised law enforcement and said the defendant's choice to plead guilty to four felony counts was a testament to the thoroughness of the investigation.
Even Saul Goodman couldn't have gotten him off.
