MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - A Bradenton man is charged with Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child, following the death of a 3-month old.

Sarasota Police say, Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo is responsible for the death of a baby in 2017.

According to police, the child's mother told detectives that on December 27th, her boyfriend, Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo, drove her to a nail salon.

The 3-month old was also in the car.

She told detectives that when she called Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo to pick her up, he arrived with the child in the car, but the baby was lifeless and felt slightly cold to the touch.

The child's mother called 911 and Sarasota police and paramedics responded to the area of Lockwood Ridge and 17th Street in Sarasota.

The baby was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Police say, when the child's mother called 911, Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo took off, because he had three warrants out of Lee County.

The child was later transported via Bayflight to All Children's Hospital for further treatment.

Doctors told detectives there was suspected abuse.

On December 28th, Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo spoke with detectives.

He was initially charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and Child Neglect because of the injuries the child received, while in his care.

The child passed away on December 29th.

A medical examiner's final report, which was completed on April 19, ruled the death a homicide.

On April 24th, the charges of Aggravated Child Abuse and Child Neglect were upgraded to Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child due to the medical examiner's final report.

Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo is being held at the Sarasota County Jail.
