One of the biggest animal abuse cases on the Suncoast will be back in court on Wednesday.

An appellate judge in Tampa is set to hear oral arguments as Alan and Sheree Napier appeal their convictions.

The couple was convicted of eight counts of aggravated animal abuse and one count of scheming to defraud. The charges stem from an animal shelter they owned in Bradenton. The shelter was raided in 2014.

Around 300 animals were found living in poor conditions and were seized. Alan has been in jail ever since and Sheree is out on probation.

If the apellette court rules in favor of the Napiers, they could be granted a new trial or be allowed to walk free.
