SEMINOLE, Fla. (AP) - A 6-year-old boy has died days after he was pulled from a backyard swimming pool in Seminole.
According to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Matthew Dixon died Thursday at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Deputies say the boy and his friends were playing with water guns on Saturday when he fell into the swimming pool. A 10-year-old girl attempted to get him out of the pool. When she couldn't she went to the boy's 14-year-old brother, who pulled the child from the water.
Dixon's mother Kelly Woodward and a neighbor alternated performing CPR until Seminole Fire Rescue crews arrived.
The boy was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital.
Deputies say an investigation continues but the incident appears accidental.
