POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A 15-year-old boy has been accused of stealing a car while a baby was in the back seat and the mother was inside a South Florida 7-Eleven to buy a Slurpee.
The SunSentinel (http://bit.ly/2bjI8yt ) reports that the juvenile was working as part of a four-man team when he took the car on a 20-minute joyride from the Pompano Beach convenience store on July 25.
The child's mother says she had gone inside the buy a Slurpee and had left the car running.
Deputies discovered the car abandoned with the ignition still running and the baby still in the car seat.
The Broward County Sheriff's Office says the suspect is facing multiple charges, including grand theft and abuse of a child without bodily harm.
Authorities say subsequent arrests are expected.
