TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - For months, neighborhood leaders in the Greater Bond community have been drafting a plan to rebrand the community.

Thursday that plan goes before more city leaders for approval.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Thursday morning to tell about the plan.

On Thursday, Bond Community neighbors will go before the Community Redevelopment Agency seeking funds to help get the plan off of the ground.

The Greater Bond Neighborhood First Plan looks to redevelopment the community.

There are four different focus areas: beautification, economic development and resident empowerment, land use and neighborhood safety and crime prevention.

The multi-million dollar initiative will be presented to the CRA on Thursday in hopes of becoming the first CRA backed initiative in the Bond Community.

Talethia Edwards, president of the Greater Bond Neighborhood Association, says the initiative started off as a bright idea between a few people but quickly grew into a community wide effort.

"A lot of people may not have come to the meetings, but watched the news coverage or read it in the paper and they're excited about what's happening," Edwards said. "Oh, I'm ready for the park, I'm ready for more homeowners in the area. They're hopeful and excited and ready for a better day in Bond."

The team has already began some projects in the area, such as renovating old empty apartment buildings and some crime prevention efforts. New plans will bring in a revamped park, jobs, and changes to the road that creates a direction street into the community

The CRA meeting starts at 9:30 a.m.
