BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - Officials have identified the man who's body was recovered from the Withlacoochee River on Dec. 13.
The individual recovered from the Withlacoochee River last Thursday in Brooks County has been identified as 22-year-old IJonn Parrish of Quitman, Georgia.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, an investigation revealed that Parrish is the person who ran away from a Georgia State trooper who had tried to pull him over for a traffic offense last weekend.
During the incident, officials say Parrish gave a false name to the trooper but the responded trooper quickly determined that he had lied after looking up the vehicle registration and name provided by Parrish.
The trooper then tried to arrest Parrish, but he ran away.
A search was done by troopers and other local agencies after Parrish had ran away, but they were unable to find him. Later that day, Parrish's body was found in the river.
An autopsy was performed at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon, which revealed no injuries to Parrish during the examination. The exact cause of death has not been confirmed due to pending toxicology and other tests being performed to determine the cause of death.

BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - A death investigation is underway after a body was recovered from the Withlacoochee River on Thursday.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says that they were called to assist in a death investigation around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday.
They say a man's body was recovered from the Withlacoochee River off of Highway 94 / Georgia 133 by Brooks County Sheriff Mike Dewey.
Agents and crime scene specialists then traveled to the area where they met with Brooks County deputies, Brooks County Fire Rescue and personnel with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources who were continuing a multi-day search.
The search continued in an area where an man ran from a Georgia State Patrol trooper who had conducted a traffic stop in the area on Dec. 8.
The body has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Macon, Georgia where an autopsy will be conducted. After the autopsy is conducted, the preliminary results will be provided to agents conducting the investigation.
Agents have been and will be conducting interviews with all law enforcement involved in the case, any other witnesses and reviewing any available video or other evidence available in the case to determine what took place.
Once the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney for his review.
The case is active and ongoing.
