TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Donations are being collected to benefit the family of a Black Dog Cafe barista who's been left in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash Thursday morning.

David Thacker was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash near the intersection of North Monroe Street and Lakeshore Drive Thursday morning.

Police say a white unknown make or model SUV was seen traveling north before hitting Thacker and fleeing the scene onto the I-10 eastbound on ramp.

The suspect vehicle still hasn't been located.

Black Dog Cafe, where Thacker worked as a barista, also posted a message on Facebook about the incident:

The business also created a GoFundMe campaign to benefit Thacker's family. According to them, Thacker remains in critical condition at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with numerous broken bones and cuts.

He is also breathing on a ventilator.

"In the meantime, the doctors say that he will be in the hospital for quite a while and as we all know, an extended hospital stay breaks the budget not only of David, but of his girlfriend and family who are caring for him," the organizers wrote.

The fund is asking for $10,000 to help cushion Thacker's family from the financial blow of long-term medical bills.
