TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Leon County Commissioner is calling for more money to be invested in the Tallahassee Fairgrounds.

According to a letter WTXL received Thursday, Commissioner Bill Proctor says the Fairgrounds, located on Tallahassee's Southside was excluded from the advanced bonded list of projects and instead is funding a project on Bannerman Road.

He says this is neglectful to the Southside and that the Fairgrounds are 40 years outdated and neglected.

I want the city to take over this project and get us some indoor bathrooms, some indoor water, and modern facilities," said Proctor. "It's time for the City of Tallahassee or a developer to come forward that can make this a useable site appropriate for people to have some where to go."

He is requesting commissioners vote to move the Bannerman Road project to the next agenda and that $18 million be designated to fix, improve and repair the Fairground.
