TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Does bowling sound like a fun way to kick off the weekend?
WTXL ABC's Jada Williams was live Friday morning with details behind a benefit for children here in the Big Bend.
Friday night is the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend's Annual Bowl for Kids' Sake fundraiser.
The organization partners with the Leon County Sheriff's Office and more than 20 local sponsors to make the fundraiser happen.
Last year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend served 519 children.
But, with additional children referred to the program daily, there are hundreds of children still on the waitlist.
There's a goal set at $65,000.
The money raised will go toward maintaining quality matches between adult mentors and at-risk youth.
There are two sessions because nearly 300 people will attend the big event.
The first session starts at 5 p.m. Thursday at Capital Lanes bowling alley.
The second session starts at 7:30 p.m. That one is cosmic bowling.
