Big Bend Unemployment Rate Drops to 5.1 percent

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Today, Florida Governor Rick Scott announced the state's unemployment rate for March 2015 was 5.7 percent, the same as February and slightly higher than the national rate of 5.5 percent.

In some of Florida's big bend counties, the jobless rate dropped from February to March. According to CareerSource Capital Region, the combined unemployment rate in the counties it serves (Gadsden, Leon and Wakulla Counties) was 5.1 percent. This was 0.8 percent lower than the region's rate of 5.9 percent one year ago, and 0.4 percent below the January 2015 state rate of 5.5 percent.

According to CareerSource Capital Region, Gadsden County's unemployment rate at 7.1 percent, was the highest in the region, followed by Leon County at 4.9 percent, and Wakulla County at 4.6 percent.
