VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--A bicyclist dies after being hit by a truck on Madison Highway.
Police in Valdosta say it happened Tuesday night at 10:30 near the intersection of Madison Highway and Winston Avenue.
The Kenworth truck, driven by Kevin Stephens, was headed south on Madison Highway. Stephens told police he saw a car traveling northbound with its high beams on.
Stephens says he caught a glimpse of an object in front of him and tried to swerve to avoid a collision.
The object was actually a man on a bike, identified as 34-year-old Aaron Todd Maze. He died at the scene. The Valdosta Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating. No charges against Stephens have been filed at this time.
