TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Thanks to an outpouring of support from the community, the historic Bradfordville Blues Club is one step closer to reopening.
The Bradfordville Blues Club sustained heavy damage when a large oak tree fell on the building back in late May.
In less than a month, the club's GoFundMe page went beyond it's $25,000 goal. According to the page, nearly 300 people reached in their pockets to donate a total of $27,968.
Mike Lanigan, the president of the Big Bend Blues Society, wrote that the money will be used to restore the building, fix the sound systems, and HVAC system.
While no reopening date has been set yet, a benefit is being held at The Moon to support the club's reconstruction.
The benefit, entitled Keeping the Blues Alive in Tallahassee - A Benefit for the BBC, will feature a silent auction as well as performances and live art. All proceeds will go to the reconstruction of the Bradfordville Blues Club.
It's happening on July 7 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 and tickets for reserved seats are $20.
Tickets will be available at the Moon box-office, Wednesday to Friday, noon to 6 p.m. or online at: www.MoonEvents.com (on line service fees and taxes apply).
