TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Animal Shelter is launching a new form of therapy for the pets in the shelter.

They say, they want to make life easier for the animals.

The shelter is now bringing in live musicians for the pets to enjoy.

They say, they're starting off by having a musician come in once a week for now, but want to increase that and maybe even get children to come in and read to the animals as well.

Thursday's jam session featured music from "Scumbag Neighbors".

"The shelter staff has an impossible difficult job caring for all these animals all the time," said band member Jeff Allen. "I have 2 dogs myself I got from this shelter, to be able to give back in some little way whether it's just dropping off a case of dog food or to actually be able to come in and do a tangible something with the animals, that's a lot of fun."

The band also donated three bags of dog food and a box of bones so the pups could eat while listening to the show.
