BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) - A Bainbridge Public Safety K9 will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a donation from a non-profit organization.
BPS K9 Kenzo will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Kenzo’s vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “Honoring Those Who Served and Sacrificed."
BPS said the vest is expected to be delivered within 8 to 10 weeks.
K9 Kenzo is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd Mix who is certified in both Tracking and Narcotics. He became a member of the Bainbridge Public Safety Department in May of 2017.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, MA whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.
The non-profit was established in 2009 to help law enforcement agencies with potentially lifesaving body armor for their K9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provided over 3,300 protective vests, in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a value of $5.7 million.
