Bainbridge Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WTXL) - A man is arrested in Bainbridge after to rob a bank, says police.

Bainbridge police responded to an alarm call at 1:39pm at Family Bank located at 800 E. College Street in Bainbridge.

According to Officers, Family Bank employees notified officers of a suspicious person in the bank lobby.

Officers reviewed surveillance video and identified 22 year old Ryan "Chop" Harris of Bainbridge. Officers attempted to located the Harris at the time but were unsuccessful.

Public Safety officers were notified when the robbery took place that the suspect was Harris.

With Decatur County Sheriff's Department officers set up a perimeter in the area around the bank to apprehend Harris. Officers spotted Harris fleeing east and chased him.

They recovered the bag containing more than $6,000 of stolen money that Harris dropped. 

Harris was apprehended by officers at approximately 2 p.m., approximately 20 minutes after the robbery.

Police identified a black plastic BB gun as the weapon used in the robbery.
