ATLANTA (WTXL) - A two-year-old received a life-saving kidney transplant in Georgia.

The case of Baby A J Burgess was the center of controversy recently when the hospital halted his initial surgery.

A J, who was born without kidneys, was set to receive a kidney from his father, who was a perfect match.

After his dad was arrested for a parole violation, the transplant was put on hold.

But Wednesday the baby underwent surgery, receiving a kidney from a deceased donor.

The family saw massive public support in recent months, including help from movie mogul Tyler Perry, who gave them a new car.

Their old car was totaled in an accident several weeks ago, making it hard to get the baby to his desperately needed dialysis appointments.
