Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL) - The Museum of Florida History welcomes the work of internationally recognized photographer Clyde Butcher.

The museum's presentation of Preserving Eden: Clyde Butcher's Florida Photographs premiers this month with museum Operations Director Jeana Brunson and Secretary Detzner offering remarks at the opening reception ceremony.

Butcher's black and white custom photography focuses on Florida's expansive and diverse landscapes.  "When I learned to photograph the Everglades," he says, "I learned to see all the organization hidden in the chaos, and the best way to capture that is with black and white."

Photography critics laud Butcher for his daring cinematic passion, which led him into alligator-infested water to find the perfect shot. His award-winning work earned the highest honor in Florida, making him a recipient of the Florida Artist Hall of Fame Award in 1998. He also received the Distinguished Artist Award from the Florida House Embassy Washington DC in 2011, and hosted a TEDx Talk in 2012.

The Tallahassee exhibition includes several educational programs and continues through May 1st.

Guests can make their Eden experience interactive with the hashtag #PreservingEden. For more information call 850.245.6400 or visit museumoffloridahistory.com.
