LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - For about a month, the Lowndes County  Sheriff's Office has been investigating a body found near the Lowndes County and Brooks County line on July 13.

The body was identified Monday as that of 54-year-old Billy Rose.

Lowndes Co. Sheriff Ashley Paulk said a CSX train conductor, heading east near the Withlacoochee River, spotted the body and called authorities.

Paulk said that when deputies arrived, they found Rose's body.

It appeared that he had been dead for about four or five days based on decomposition.

Final autopsy results have not been released.
