BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - An active shooter is now dead after a four hour standoff in Panama City.
The Bay County Sheriff's Office confirmed with ABC News that there is an active shooter on Beck Avenue in the St. Andrews area of Bay County, which is in Panama City.
Deputies say the incident started around 11:45 a.m. CT.
The suspect has been identified by deputies as 49-year-old Kevin Robert Holroyd. Deputies say he was barricaded inside his apartment at the Briarwood apartment complex Tuesday morning.
BCSO says that when deputies arrived, the suspect began firing shots. However, they were successfully able to get into the apartment some hours later with the help of a bomb squad.
When they got into the apartment, Holroyd was dead. They note the apartment had been soaked in gasoline upon their arrival.
A spokesman says Holroyd is believed to have shot and killed a victim in an incident in Santa Rosa Beach. That victim has been identified as 30-year-old Clinton Street.
Street was allegedly engaged to Polroid's ex-wife. Authorities say Street suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
