TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Authorities are investigating after a small fire in a bathroom trash can caused a brief evacuation at Riley Elementary Monday morning.
Chris Petley with Leon County Schools confirmed that the Tallahassee Fire Department quickly extinguished the small fire Monday morning.
He says the elementary school was evacuated after a small fire was found in a bathroom trash can. Staff immediately pulled the fire alarm and students calmly exited the buildings as firefighters put out the fire.
There were no injuries or damage to the school, outside of the trash can. Petley says students and staff are back in session as normal.
The incident is currently under investigation.
