TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Attorney's with Barret, Fasig, and Brooks are commenting on these recent accidents involving all-terrain vehicles.
They say more often then not you see untrained people operating these vehicles which can lead to injuries.
They say that while there are state statutes in place to keep these vehicles off state roads, when they are on their own land, there are no safety requirements.
However, there may be considerable "push-back" if safety measures are enforced.
"There should be mandatory helmet requirements and at minimum I protection as well but you know a lot of people would probably not like that. They're gonna say that's intrusive government regulation etc. etc.," explained Harry Graham. "How do you enforce it? I think it would be more prudent because we see the end result these crashes and usually at minimum there are broken bones and often there are fatalities."
Attorneys say that while there are generally less of these kinds of accidents reported, the wrecks tend to be worse in terms of injuries.
