TALLAHASSEE, Fla., (WTXL) -- The attorney for Erica Kinsman, the woman accusing rookie NFL quarterback and former Florida State player, Jameis Winston of rape, issued a statement in regards to Winston's countersuit, filed last week.

The counterclaim accuses Kinsman of lying to ruin Winston's reputation, saying Kinsman is "motivated by greed." Winston claimed, "Ms. Kinsman has been successful in one major area. She has mounted a false and vicious media campaign to vilify Mr. Winston with the objective of getting him to pay her to go away."

Kinsman's attorney, John Clune said, "Mr. Winston’s answer is nothing more than a frivolous PR that is not supported by fact." When talking about the counterclaims, Clune said it was an interesting choice, adding, "The counterclaims place all of his prior misconduct and history front and center in the case by alleging injury to his 'good reputation.' The burden of proof is now on him and refusing to answer questions won’t cut it. I’m not sure how well this will end up for him but he is certainly entitled to choose his own strategy.”

Kinsman filed a civil suit against Winston last month, seeking more than $15,000 in damages.

Winston, who claims the sex was consensual and was never charged criminally, is suing Kinsman for $75,000 plus punitive damages.
