ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta's airport is living up to its title as the world's busiest, as lines for security are spilling into baggage claim areas.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (on-ajc.com/1VQFtg5) that lines on Monday morning stretched from the main checkpoint through the large atrium, around the corner and wind back and forth between baggage claim carousels in the domestic terminal.
The airport reported on its official Twitter account Monday morning that passengers in the domestic terminal faced one-hour waits to get through Transportation Security Administration checkpoints.
Monday mornings are among the busiest periods at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, as business travelers begin the workweek.
The airport this month temporarily closed one of the three checkpoints in the domestic terminal to install new equipment.
