TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Carmen Donner is the assistant principal at Roberts Elementary School. She's a passionate educator, and today her vision and drive was rewarded.
Summoned into the library to talk with a student, or so she thought, Donner was given the "Glenn Howell Distinguished Educator Award."
It's something that Donner says, came as a total surprise to her.
"The award is about a distinguished educator so I am not in the classroom right now, but I do educate students by making an impact on their learning through their teachers, and the professional development that we do, and the different programs that we host here at our school," said Donner."That coupled with coming to work every day and doing what I'm supposed to do...that is what this award is all about.
The award is given to a minority educator in the region based on their philosophy, recommendations from other professionals, and the work that they do to create a better learning atmosphere for all students.
