Arrests Made in 2 Cold Case Homicides in Lakeland

Posted

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — Lakeland police officials believe two cold-case homicides have been solved with the arrest of three men, two of whom were indicted by a grand jury.

The Lakeland Ledger (http://bit.ly/1QnbRn6) reports two years ago, Lakeland police had 38 unsolved homicides on the books. In an effort to reduce that number, the first LPD cold-case team was formed.

Since then, the team has spent countless hours digging through musty cardboard boxes full of photos and faded reports. They have fielded dozens of phone calls from citizens and former detectives offering tips, some of which led them as far as Colorado, among many other states.

In partnership with Lakeland police, The Ledger profiled many of the department's cold cases and unsolved homicides.
