TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Leon County Sheriff's Office Deputies and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement made an arrest in the case of a missing 2-year-old juvenile, Braxton Lindsey.

Thomas Richard Lindsey III, 29, of SopChoppy, was arrested on the evening of November 5th. His arrest was preceded by the recovery of the missing child.

Lindsey had unlawfully removed the child from his mother earlier on Thursday, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel. Lindsey gave Braxton Lindsey to a friend to turn over to a relative and ultimately return to the mother after an Amber Alert was issued.

At the time of the abduction Lindsey had entered the home resided in by Braxton and his mother in Panacea. He removed the child against the mother's wishes and struck her in the face at the time of the abduction, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

Lindsey was transported to the Leon County Jail where he remains under a $75,000 bond. He was charged with burglary with a person assaulted, domestic battery and interfering with child custody. Braxton was checked by EMS staff and returned to his mother following the ordeal.
